Everything you need know about our training courses for both Cat C and Cat C+E vehicles.
HGV/LGV Training Courses
Here at Atlas we specialise in HGV driver training, lorry driving training & LGV driver training for both Cat C and Cat C+E vehicles. Our lessons and courses for both class of vehicle are built around supervised tuition on the road, together with manoeuvring exercises in our purpose built HGV training centre. When training for a Cat C+E licence, trailer coupling and decoupling are also included in your training.
Our purpose-built HGV training centre in Doncaster, tailored lessons and experienced instructors allow you the best opportunity of a first time pass.
If you’re thinking about becoming a lorry driver, but not quite sure, our unique taster sessions give you a chance to come down to our centre and get behind the wheel before you have passed your theory and have your provisional.
The taster sessions are held within our HGV Driving Centre only and not on any highways or public roads. This session is held with one of our instructors and allows you to get behind the wheel of one of our C Class, Rigid vehicles for 30mins. You will be shown a few maneuvers and allowed to drive around the centre; this should help you get an idea of what it’s like to drive a lorry and if it’s something you would like to proceed with.
After the Taster Session, we we can guide you through your provisional application, theory test and hazard perception. We then book you in for your assessment lesson. Easy!
Once you have your provisional licence and have passed your theory and hazard perception, we will arrange a 1 hour assessment lesson at your convenience.
One of our HGV training instructors will take you out on the highway in the class of vehicle you need for your lorry driver training and use this hour to assess your driving and discuss your training requirements, including offering an estimate of the number of days training you will require to reach HGV driving test standard.
We will also provide you with an estimate of costs for the course, as well as possible dates and times. You are then free to make the decision on the way forward that suits you (please see below for our hourly rate). You can book your lessons there and then or call us to arrange them over the phone.
